Fall Classic Game 7 Attracts 51 Million Audience Members Across the US, Canadian and Japan Regions.

The thrilling extra-inning clash where the Los Angeles Dodgers beat the Toronto Blue Jays 5-4 attracted a aggregate over 50 million watchers in the United States, Canadian, and Japanese territories. MLB stated this represents the highest-rated Fall Classic finale after the 1991 showdown featuring the Twins and Atlanta Braves.

Broadcast Ratings Details

Last Saturday’s memorable contest averaged over 27 million audience members on Fox Sports networks, Fox Deportes and Fox’s streaming platforms. According to ratings data, it was the second highest-rated broadcast of the week.

It also stands as the top-rated Fall Classic matchup since the 2017 edition Game 7 involving the Dodgers and Houston Astros, which drew 29.07 million. This marks a sixteen percent increase compared to the last Game 7 between the Nationals and Astros, which drew 23.19 million viewers.

In the weekly rankings, Game 6 ranked fourth, the fourth game ranked seventh, Game 5 was eighth, and the third game finished in thirteenth place.

Global Viewership Figures

In Canada, the game recorded over 11 million watchers on the Sportsnet network and the French-language TVA Sports channel. This was the most-watched English broadcast in Canada since the 2010 edition Winter Olympics.

In the Japanese market, where the final game began at 9 PM in the local time zone, it drew 12 million. This came after the previous Friday’s sixth game – in which World Series Most Valuable Player Yamamoto allowed a single run in six frames – recorded 13.1 million viewers, making it the highest-rated Fall Classic matchup on a sole broadcaster in the country.

Series Totals and Trends

The full seven-match World Series averaged 15.71 million audience members on the Fox network, a 2% increase from the previous year’s Dodgers-Yankees matchup. This represents the initial instance after 2015 and 2016 that the Fall Classic has seen audience growth for two straight seasons.

Including the opening game telecast on the Univision network, the total US average reached 16.1 million. The total Fall Classic viewership in the Japanese market was 9.7M and 8.1 million in the Canadian market.

The complete MLB Postseason on Fox and its sister channels drew over 8 million watchers, an eight percent rise compared to the previous year and Fox’s best postseason performance since the 2017 season.

MLB stated that the Fall Classic was broadcast in 203 nations and regions by forty-four media partners in 16 various languages.
